Sean O'Keefe

is an award-winning Professor and career coach at Santa Clara University. He teaches in the LEAD Scholars program (first-generation college students) and in the Business School, dating back to 2010. Professor O'Keefe received his undergraduate degree from University of California at Santa Barbara in Communication and his MBA from Santa Clara University.

During college, Sean earned internships with the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland A's, and San Francisco Giants....without having any connections. After graduation he worked for the Oakland A's for 7 years and then for a Bay Area technology company as the Vice President of Business Development for 7 years. He left his Vice President position in 2016 to pursue his dream jobs: teaching and coaching students in his roles at Empowered Students and at Santa Clara University.

Sean is passionate about empowering students to take a proactive approach to career development because he had a professor as an undergrad who empowered him to land amazing internships and a job upon graduation without having any personal connections to those jobs.

Why Sean’s Qualified

First, he did it himself. Sean's dream job, as a college student, was to work in the Sports industry, specifically for a sports team in the San Francisco Bay Area where he grew up. With the guidance of a professor and by being strategic, he earned internships with the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland A’s, and San Francisco Giants without having any personal connections to any of the organizations. He then leveraged those dream internships into a dream job with the Oakland A’s after graduation.

More importantly, Sean's been helping college students land their life-altering internships and jobs since 2010.
